Great Hornbill.....A fascinating bird! |
We had finished our visit to Dhikala Zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve and came down to Bijrani Zone.Stayed there for 2 days.We did not spot any Tigers and was on our last safari at Bijrani.
We travelled deep into Bijrani Zone and were on the look put for Tigers! The safari jeep came to a halt near a clearing with just one tree. And to our surprise we saw 2 Great Hornbills rollicking on the branches of that tree.

Feeding on Berrys! |
The 2 birds were busy consuming the berrys which was aplenty on the tree.Suddently we notices that the birds were not alone on that tree! There was a monkey also feeding on the same berrys!
Both animals tolerated the presence of the other. There was one occation when the bird were showing thier backs to the monkey! It was a funny scene!
The Great Hornbills jumped from one branch to another and fed on the fruit. We were wirnessing the antics of these birds for the first time.Great Hornbill is the State bird of Kerlaa and it was fascinating to observe them at far away Uttarakhand!
After some time we left that place in search of the elusive Tiger!
